Pre-Course Assignments
In this week’s episode, I discuss how people often confuse hoping for understanding with actually knowing if their message was received. I provide three key steps to ensure effective communication: making a clear and simple point, asking for feedback or playback from the audience, and connecting the message to what matters to them.

Day 1 Homework
Each day, at the end of class, your instructor will assign homework.
1.) Practice Present Listening
- Listen to someone for 10 minutes.
- Don’t tell them it’s homework and be aware of your Elusive 600.
- Focus on being interested and take note of what was difficult.
2.) Practice Mind Mapping
- Fill out a BRIEF Map for an executive summary of what you did today in the course.
- Provide a 60-second summary to someone, answering the question, “What did you do today?”.
Post-Course Assignments

- Finish scanning or reading Joe McCormack’s BRIEF: Make a bigger impact by saying less and NOISE: Living and leading when nobody can focus.
