Day 1 Homework

Each day, at the end of class, your instructor will assign homework. 

 

1.) Practice Present Listening

  • Listen to someone for 10 minutes.
  • Don’t tell them it’s homework and be aware of your Elusive 600.
  • Focus on being interested and take note of what was difficult.

2.) Practice Mind Mapping

  • Fill out a BRIEF Map for an executive summary of what you did today in the course.
  • Provide a 60-second summary to someone, answering the question, “What did you do today?”.

Post-Course Assignments

  • Finish scanning or reading Joe McCormack’s BRIEF: Make a bigger impact by saying less and NOISE: Living and leading when nobody can focus.
  • Keep these books handy to reference as you continue to develop your concise communication skills.
  • Use The Standard as a quick guide on the core BRIEF skills introduced in BRIEF 101.
